DMCA & takedown policy
How rights holders report content and how we respond — clearly, quickly, in writing.

Our position in one paragraph
PinRip is a downloading tool: it resolves and delivers publicly available files that Pinterest hosts, on demand, to the person who pasted the link. We don't host a content library, don't index pins, and don't publish anything ourselves. But we take copyright seriously, we respond to properly formed takedown notices, and this page exists so the process is transparent instead of a hunt through contact forms. If you created something and it's being misused, you'll find no resistance here — see also our creator policy for the philosophy behind that.
Designated agent
Written copyright complaints should be sent to our designated DMCA agent. Please put "DMCA Takedown Request" in the subject line so it is triaged the same day:
- Email: dmca@pinrip.com (fastest — monitored daily)
- Mail: PinRip DMCA Agent — write to us via the contact page for the current mailing address on file
Email is strongly preferred: it produces a timestamped, searchable record for both sides, and lets us respond with questions (if anything is unclear) without slowing the clock on valid notices.
What a valid takedown notice must include
Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)), a notice is valid when it includes all of the following:
- Identification of the work you claim has been infringed — a URL, title, or a description specific enough for us to know what it is. If multiple works are involved, a representative list is fine.
- Identification of the material to be removed — the exact PinRip URL(s) (or download links) at issue, so we can locate and act on the specific material. Please don't send site-wide demands without URLs.
- Your contact information: full legal name, the rights holder or agent you represent, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
- A good-faith statement: "I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
- A statement of accuracy: "The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I state that I am the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."
- Your signature — physical or electronic. A typed full name in the email body satisfies the electronic-signature requirement; scanned signatures are equally welcome.
If a notice is missing required elements, we'll reply promptly with what's needed — we won't silently ignore incomplete notices, and we won't act on ones we can't understand.
Our response process & timing
On receiving a valid, complete notice, we aim to acknowledge within 48 hours and complete our review within 7 business days. Depending on what the notice identifies, that review may mean removing the identified material from user-facing surfaces (download history entries, resolvable links where technically feasible), blocking the specific source material, or — where the complaint is really about content hosted on Pinterest — explaining that the hosting platform itself is the right counterparty, and helping you route the complaint there.
We'll notify the user who triggered the action where appropriate, and we keep records of every notice and outcome. Abusive or knowingly false notices (which carry liability under §512(f)) are documented and may be reported.
Counter-notice
If your download or link was disabled because of a takedown notice and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to dmca@pinrip.com containing: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the removed material and its former location; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and your name, address, phone number, and consent to jurisdiction of a federal court in the district of your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which PinRip may be found), plus your agreement to accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
On a valid counter-notice, we'll share it with the original complainant. If they don't file a court action seeking to restrain the material within 10 business days, we restore what was removed.
Repeat-infringer policy
Accounts and devices associated with repeated, validated infringement lose access to PinRip. We track takedown actions against the accounts and endpoints that triggered them; a second valid notice against the same actor results in permanent suspension, and deliberate attempts to circumvent suspensions extend the ban to associated accounts. One-off notices that result from genuine misunderstanding are handled without prejudice.
A note on scope & honesty
PinRip doesn't host copies of your work — the files it delivers come from Pinterest's own storage at the moment a user requests them. That means we can block our tool from processing a link, but we can't remove the underlying pin from Pinterest; for that, the notice belongs with Pinterest's own copyright process. Our creator policy explains the line we draw, and the contact page reaches a human if anything here is unclear.
